What Causes Error 80070057?
This error typically appears when QuickBooks can't read or write to your company file. Here are the most common causes:
- Corrupted or damaged company file. Your
.QBWfile may have become corrupted due to a sudden power loss, improper shutdown, or disk errors. When QuickBooks tries to access the file, it encounters invalid data and throws this parameter error.
- Special characters in the file path or name. If your company file name or any folder in its path contains characters like
&,@,#, or extended Unicode characters, Windows may fail to pass the correct path to QuickBooks.
- Insufficient file permissions or antivirus interference. Your Windows user account may lack read/write permissions to the folder where the company file is stored, or your antivirus software is actively scanning and locking the file during access.
