What Causes Error 377?
- Your bank is undergoing maintenance — Banks regularly take their systems offline for maintenance, usually during nights and weekends. During these windows, QBO can't pull transactions.
- Intuit's connection to your bank is temporarily broken — The service Intuit uses to communicate with banks can experience intermittent issues, especially with smaller banks and credit unions.
- Your bank has changed their data sharing protocols — If the bank updated their API or security requirements, the existing connection may no longer work until Intuit updates their side.
How to Fix QuickBooks Error 377
Method 1: Wait and Try Again
- Wait 2-4 hours (or overnight if it's late in the day)
- Go to Banking → Update in QBO
- Error 377 is almost always temporary — patience is genuinely the best fix
Method 2: Verify Your Bank Is Working
- Log into your bank's website directly
- Make sure your accounts are accessible and transactions are showing
- If the bank's website is down or slow, wait until it's back to normal
- Then retry the QBO update
Method 3: Update Your Connection
- In QBO: Banking → pencil icon → Edit sign-in info
- Re-enter your bank credentials
- This refreshes the connection session and can resolve stale connection issues
Method 4: Disconnect and Reconnect
If the error persists after 24 hours:
- Disconnect the bank account in QBO
- Wait 15-30 minutes
- Reconnect with fresh credentials
- Map the account back to the correct QBO account
Method 5: Upload Transactions Manually
While you wait for the connection to come back:
- Log into your bank and download transactions as a
.CSV,.QFX, or.QBOfile - In QBO: Banking → Upload transactions
- Select the file and map it to the right account
- This keeps your books current while the live feed is down
