Quick Fix: This error means your bank's website has changed and QuickBooks can't navigate it properly. Log into your bank directly, complete any pending actions, then update your connection in QBO.
What Causes Error 105?
- Your bank updated their website or login flow โ Banks regularly redesign their online banking portals. When they do, the automated connection QuickBooks uses to pull transactions may break until Intuit updates their integration.
- A security prompt or interstitial page is blocking access โ Your bank may be displaying a message, survey, or security notice that QBO's automated login can't get past.
- Your account has been flagged for verification โ Unusual login activity (like QuickBooks connecting from a different IP) can trigger a fraud alert or identity verification requirement.
How to Fix QuickBooks Error 105
Method 1: Log Into Your Bank and Clear Any Prompts
- Go to your bank's website directly and log in
- Look for any pop-ups, notices, terms to accept, or verification steps
- Navigate to each account to make sure they're all accessible
- Log out of the bank
- Go back to QBO โ Banking โ Update and try again
Method 2: Update Bank Connection in QBO
- In QBO, go to Banking (or Transactions)
- Click the pencil/edit icon on the affected bank account
- Select Edit sign-in info
- Re-enter your bank credentials
- Complete any security questions
- Click Update
Method 3: Disconnect and Reconnect After 24 Hours
If the bank recently changed their site, Intuit may need time to update their connector:
- Disconnect the bank account in QBO (pencil icon โ Disconnect)
- Wait 24 hours โ Intuit may push an update during this time
- Reconnect by going to Banking โ Link account
- Enter your credentials and map the account
Method 4: Check Intuit's Known Issues
- Visit status.quickbooks.intuit.com
- Search for your bank name
- If there's a known connection issue, Intuit is working on it โ you just need to wait
- You can also search the QuickBooks Community for your bank + "error 105"
Still Getting Error 105?
- Contact your bank โ ask if they've changed their website or if your account has any restrictions on third-party access
- Contact Intuit Support โ they can escalate the issue to the bank connection team
- Use manual transaction upload in the meantime โ download a
.CSVfrom your bank and upload it to QBO to keep your books current
Prevent This Error in the Future
- Log into your bank directly every few weeks โ clear any pending prompts before they block QBO
- Keep your bank credentials current in QBO
- Check the Intuit status page when bank feeds stop working โ the issue may already be known and in progress
