Quarterly Estimated Tax Deadlines in Alaska
Alaska's corporate estimated tax schedule differs slightly from the federal schedule:
Note: Alaska has no individual income tax, so estimated tax payments only apply to C-corporations doing business in Alaska.
Alaska-Specific Tax Requirements
Alaska is one of nine states with no individual income tax, making it attractive for sole proprietors, freelancers, and pass-through entities. However, Alaska does levy a corporate income tax on C-corporations with rates ranging from 0% to 9.4% on a graduated scale. S-corporations, partnerships, and sole proprietorships do not owe Alaska state income tax.
Alaska is also one of five states with no statewide sales tax. However, many local boroughs and municipalities levy their own sales taxes — Juneau charges 5%, and some areas charge up to 7.5%. Businesses operating in multiple Alaska municipalities need to track and remit sales tax separately to each jurisdiction.
Alaska has significant industry-specific taxes, including the Fisheries Business Tax (1–5% depending on type), the Fishery Resource Landing Tax (1–3%), and Oil & Gas Production Tax (35% of production tax value). The state also requires a Biennial Report filed every two years with the Division of Corporations, Business & Professional Licensing (DCCED) for a $100 fee. There is no franchise tax or gross receipts tax.
